Here are a few things to consider if you want to be the next star designer. Passion: Moment of truth, being passionate about fashion is not about reading Vogue and owning a Gucci bag. Having a passion means working for free for years before landing into the job that pays off marginally more than the minimum wage. It means to sleep on sofa for years because you spend your savings on the fabric instead of paying the rent while to try to be the next big thing in the fashion industry, but you are expected to dress like a million bucks. How much can you suffer for fashion? Education: So now you have decided that fashion is your thing. You have the passion and the urge for fashion. Next thing is to look out for the fashion schools that have the best faculty too. Get admission in them as you need to learn the required skills which will get you employed in the future. Look for the following things that do the school have a good reputation? Do the required research on your own and then go for the best one. What will you learn on the course? Is it what you want to do? Connections:The fashion industry is about who you know, so if you don’t know anyone, how will you find them? Will you meet the right people through school? Your rock star father? An internship? You’ll need to meet the right people, so think about how you are going to do this. You’ll need some serious luck and talent to get higher than that. Or what if a year into your education you decide that a fashion degree isn't for you? Whatever your back-up plan, ensure that it's a solid and obtainable goal. Conclusion: Fashion industry being highly competitive and potent does not always link with being glamorous and stylish as often thought of. Behind all that is shimmery and shiny, is the reality which requires a lot of hard work and patience too.
