This procedure is usually fast and free from any pain and usually does not require any anesthesia or medication. The surrogate only needs to stay at the fertility clinic for a few hours and rest for a few days after the transfer.    Prenatal care: After the successful embryo transfer, the surrogate mother will be required to make routine visits to the fertility clinic so that the doctor may monitor her health through regular blood tests and ultrasounds. Once a healthy pregnancy is confirmed, the mother may be transferred to her own OB. To ensure the health of the baby, the surrogate continues to receive prenatal care throughout pregnancy with regular health checkups and medication.
