  1. Do Now DWP # 51

  2. 2/3/2014 7-2 F Solve One-Step Inequalities

  3. The Goal of Solving Inequalities… to get the variable by itself on one side of the inequalitysign

  4. 8 ≤ Think of this inequality as a balanced scale. X + 3 Whatever you do to one side has to be done to the other to keep it balanced!

  5. Example 1 Solve n + 2 > 8. Graph the solution on a number line. n + 2 > 8 n + 2 > 8 – 2 – 2 n > 6 n> 6

  6. Example 2 Solve y – 3 ≤ 4. Graph the solution on a number line. y – 3 ≤ 4 y – 3 ≤ 4 + 3 + 3 y ≤ 7 y ≤ 7

  7. Example 3 Solve 3x < 21. Graph the solution on a number line. 3x < 21 x < 7 The solution is x < 7.

  8. (6) ≤ 7(6) Example 4 x ≤ 42 The solution is x ≤ 42.

  9. Example 5 Ramiis taking 3 of his friends to a baseball game. He has no more than $24 to spend on snacks. Write and solve an inequality to find the most he can spend on snacks for each of them.

  10. Example 5 4s ≤ 24 s ≤ 6 Remi can spend a maximum of $6 on snacks for each of them.

  11. Your Turn

  12. Solve and graph the solution on a number line. 1.) d+ 4 < 7 2.) y– 2 ≥ 6 3.) 3x > 12 4.) 5.) The band plans to sell tickets to their concert to raise money for some new music. They need to raise at least $450. Write and solve an inequality to find how many $5 tickets they need to sell.

  13. Homework • Pg. 409 #1-28 Evens • Coordinate Plane Project Due Tomorrow!
