  1. Cheap Sunglasses: 5 Target Audiences for Winter Selling A fundamental rule of successful retailing is to know your audience. It is as true for cheap sunglasses as it is any other retail product. However, one of the things that makes our industry different are the seasonal changes that dictate what we sell. Eyewear retailers have to adjust their target audiences to compensate for seasonal changes. We know that the winter season is tough for sunglasses. All those bulk buy sunglasses remaining in your stock room after a busy summer season are gathering dust as they wait for warmer weather. But that does not mean you have to let sales languish for the next couple of months. Selling during the winter is a matter of identifying the most attractive target audiences. It is also a matter of understanding that the biggest sellers during the winter are cheap sunglasses. That's right, cheap sells better in the winter. If you target the five audiences listed below, you can do fairly well. Skiers Skiers are prime candidates for cheap sunglasses for obvious reasons. Skiers wear sunglasses to protect their eyes from sun glare while on the slopes. Targeting them with your cheapest models make sense if, for no other reason, than the fact that it only takes one wipe out to break a lens or snap a frame. Market to skiers by telling them to leave their expensive sunglasses at home. It is better for them to invest in inexpensive sunglasses they do not care about breaking. Then sell them a second pair, just in case. Parents Parents always worry about sending their kids out to play in the winter. You can give them one less thing to worry about by encouraging them to buy cheap sunglasses for winter adventures.

  2. There's no need for the kids to jeopardize the expensive eyewear mom and dad purchased at the beach last year when cheaper alternatives will see them through. Anglers Believe it or not, anglers are already looking forward to getting the boat back in the water. And, of course, anglers are famous for losing their sunglasses by dropping them in the water. They are a perfect audience for cheap sunglasses. Moreover, now is the time to target them for winter sales. Anglers are spending all kinds of money right now getting ready for spring. Plow Operators Winter is the time when plow operators are extremely busy. A plow operator can spend upwards of 18 to 20 hours per day on the road during exceptionally severe weather. They go through sunglasses like the rest of us go through hot cocoa and coffee. A good way to market to plow operators is to remind them to keep a couple of pairs of sunglasses in the truck. Small business owners running multiple trucks can stock all of them. That way, drivers will never have to worry about not having a pair when the sun comes up. Along those same lines are tow truck operators. How many pairs of sunglasses do they break as a result of the demands of their jobs? To the average tow truck operator, cheap is good. Construction Workers Lastly are those construction workers who will spend a lot of time outdoors during the winter. We are talking roofers, siders, etc. They obviously need sunglasses to protect their eyes, but they also need inexpensive as well. No roofer wants to spend $300 on a pair of sunglasses that may fall off the roof and shatter. You can still sell sunglasses in the winter. You just have to know your target audiences and how to reach them. Hopefully, this post has helped.
