Registration Handouts • Today you received a registration sheet, & a graduation requirements sheet, & a CCCC College & Career Promise handout. • The Course Catalogue with course descriptions & prerequisites can be found on the Counseling Services Webpage on our school’s website under the Registration tab. Please ask a teacher or myself if you have a course question.

  4. When will registration begin? Friday, March 1st. We will register students individually through 3rd block classes. Students can locate the registration schedule on the Counseling Office Bulletin Board & Website under the Registration tab.

  14. Chatham County Requires an additional 6 Elective Credits Totaling 28 credits to get a high school diploma.

  15. How do I Get Promoted to the 10th Grade? To be promoted to the 10th Grade, you must pass 6 Classes by the end of this year. Chatham County Schools does notdo mid-semester promotions.

  16. Honors Classes • All students may register for any of the honors courses in the course catalog. If you have never taken an honors course and are uncertain if you can handle it, please consult your teacher in this subject area. • All Honors English Courses requires a Summer Reading Packet. You may get them from an English teacher, the Counseling Office, or on our school’s website under the Counseling Services webpage in the Registration tab. The Reading Packet is to be turned in to your English teacher the FIRST DAY of school in August no matter which semester you have English.

Math III (H Precalculus is listed at the bottom of the page.) Science – Biology or Honors Biology History – Civics or Honors Civics There are more academics listed under the electives.

NC High School to Community College Articulation Agreement The NC Dept. of Public Instruction and the NC Community College System have a statewidearticulation agreement in which students may be eligible to receive college credit after completion of identified Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses in high school. This creates a systematic and seamless process in which students can move from high school to community college without having to duplicate efforts or repeat courses.

  31. Criteria to Award Articulation Credit for Community College Classes: • Grade of B or higher in the course, and • A score of 93 or higher on the standardized CTE Post Assessment In other words, if you meet the criteria listed above in selected high school classes, they can count toward your community college degree.

  33. Career & Technical Student Organizations Provide leadership opportunities, communication skills, competitive events, character, citizenship, technical leadership and teamwork skills. They enhance students civic awareness and provide opportunities for developing social competencies. They promote a wholesome attitude about living and working. Activities are directly related to the course blueprint objectives.

  34. National Technical Honor Society Student must have an unweighted avg. of 3.25 GPA and complete a second level CTE course. Students must also be a member in good standing in a CTSO. What do they do? • Qualify for scholarships for college • Rewards excellence in workforce education • Develops self-esteem, pride • Encourages students to reach higher levels of achievement • Promotes strong values-honesty, responsibility, initiative, teamwork, leadership, citizenship, scholarship • Helps schools build effective business partnerships • Builds a strong positive image for workforce education in America

  35. Career & College Promise Community College Classes for High School Students

  36. Career & College Promise Classes: Online Community College Transfer Pathway offers classes that will Transfer to all UNC Universities and almost all Private Universities. Community College CTE Pathways offer classes that are aligned with careers in a CTE Pathway and give you Community College credit. *Both Pathways will also give you high school credit.

College & Career Promise – Taking Community College Classes During High School • Must be a Junior or Senior • College Transfer Classes requires a 2.8 Unweighted GPA or meet College Readiness Benchmarks on the PSAT, SAT, PreACT, or ACT exam • CTE Pathway Options requires a 2.8 Unweighted GPA or School Approval • All Classes will give you high school & community college credit • College Transfer Classes will transfer to all UNC systems & most private schools through their articulation agreement. • Some College Transfer Classes will also meet high school graduation requirements.

  39. CCCC College Transfer Classes • The College Transfer courses will be taught online in the computer lab. You can take up to two online courses during a class period. • These classes count just like an AP class. Therefore, you will receive one extra grade point towards your high school GPA. • They will transfer to all UNC colleges & most private colleges as long as you have a 70 or higher.

Prerequisites Can be Found in the Course Guide on the Registration Tab of the School Counseling Services webpage. • ENG 112 Argument-Based Research College Credit: 3 semester hours • Prerequisite: ENG 111 • This course, the second in a series of two, introduces research techniques, documentation styles, and argumentative strategies. Emphasis is placed on historical developments and their impact on the modern world through religion, politics, economics, and social developments. Upon completion, students should be able to compare and contrast western and non-western cultures. This course has been approved for transfer under the CAA and ICAA as a general education course in English Composition.

Timeline for Registration • Registration through 3rd period classes starts Friday, March 1st in Mrs. Albright’s room. • TURN IN REGISTRATION SHEETS TO YOUR 3rd BLOCK TEACHERS BEFORE March 1stwith your signature & your parent’s signature completed. • We will hand out registration schedules beginning with seniors first this summer. You will be able to make changes when schedules are ready to be picked-up August 13th & August 14th. • During schedule pick-ups, students may ask for “Wanna”changes.
