  1. - History of the Atom -Timeline By: Stephen Wajda

  2. Democritus – 460 BC Democritus was an Ancient Greek scientist and philosopher. He came up with and fathered the atomic theory. It stated that “ everything is made up of and compromised of atoms”. This was a huge advancement in this field. http://www.universetoday.com/60058/democritus-atom/

  3. Dalton - 1803 Dalton was a English physicist, chemist as well as a meteorologist . His work manly revolved around the atomic theory, as that is what he is best known for. Also he self diagnosed himself with colorblindness, as he saw everything different then others. http://getyournotes.blogspot.com/2011/05/process-of-theoretical-change-daltons.html

  4. Mendeleev - 1869 Mendeleev was a Russian Chemist who is know and accredited with the creation of the first Periodic Table. His table contained elements that were not even discovered yet. He was a very smart man for his time. Many did not understand him. http://www.bluffton.edu/~bergerd/nsc_111/science2.html

  5. Eugene Goldstein - 1885 Eugene Goldstein was a German physicist. He was one of the first to research the discharge tube. He also invented the anode ray. Also during his life he was part of the discovery of the proton. http://reich-chemistry.wikispaces.com/422-003+Big+Time+Line+Project+ANDREW+M.+AND+KEVIN+D.+BIG+TIME+LINE

  6. Henri Becquerel - 1896 Henri was a French Physicist. With the help of Marie Curie, they discovered radioactivity. In 1903 he was awarded the Noble Prize in physics. http://reich-chemistry.wikispaces.com/timothy.hitchings.atomichistory.fall.2009

  7. J.J. Thomson - 1897 J.J. Thomson was a British Physicist. He is credited with the discovery of the electron and the isotope. He also invented the Mass Spectrometer. In his later years he also became a Noble Prize winner. http://www.nndb.com/people/479/000099182/

  8. Ernest Rutherford - 1907 Ernest was a British chemist who made himself known as the father of nuclear physics. He was also widely know for his work developing the concept of radioactivity half-life. In 1908 he was awarded the Noble Prize in Chemistry. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ernest_Rutherford

  9. Robert Millikan - 1910 Robert was an American experimental Physicist. He discovered and determined the measurement of the charge of an electron. He is also greatly known for his work on the Photoelectric effect. http://www.manhattanrarebooks.com/millikan.htm

  10. Frederick Soddy - 1913 Mr. Soddy was an English, who worked with Rutherford to discover that radioactivity is due to transmutation of elements. This was a huge discovery. Also by himself he proved the existence of isotopes. http://www.xtimeline.com/evt/view.aspx?id=71181

  11. Neils Bohr - 1913 Neil was a Danish physicist. He contributed immensely to the understanding of atomic structure and quantum mechanics. Also like many others, he too was a Nobel Prize winner. http://www.freeinfosociety.com/article.php?id=95

  12. Werner Heisenberg - 1925 Werber was a German theoretical physicist. He made major contributions in quantum mechanics and nuclear physics. Asserting the Principle of quantum theory is what he is best known for. http://reich-chemistry.wikispaces.com/1915-1950+AD

  13. James Chadwick - 1932 James was a English Physicist. He is responsible for the discovery of the Neutron. He also was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1935. His discovery of the neutron was a big advancement. http://www.wired.com/science/discoveries/news/2009/02/dayintech_0227
