  1. Mastering the Five Stages of Negotiation

  2. Achieving a successful negotiation between two parties can be a difficult task. Whether you’re selling, buying or trading, negotiation is an important skill to master. We’re going to be exploring five stages of negotiation and prepare you to negotiate through any situation.

  3. Five Stages of Negotiation Stage 1: Preparation and Planning Stage 2: Opening Phase The second stage of negotiations involves establishing dialogue between the involved parties. This is where ground rules are established so that everyone understands each other. Certain restraints are applied to some things, and anything meant to be left out of the negotiation is specifically stated. This is arguably the most important stage of negotiations. Here, you gather as much information as you can about the parties involved or any leverage and set your aims.

  4. Stages of Negotiation Stage 3: Clarification Phase Stage 4: Bargaining Phase This is the stage that comes when you and the other party have exchanged information. You and the other party evaluate your positions and start to figure out if your demands are reasonable. You clarify your position before proceeding to bargaining. This is where the actual bargaining starts to take place. Here, the objective is to make the other party believe that your demands are acceptable and at the same time you convince them that they should concede their demands. Your main objective is to go further towards your goal while maintaining your position with appropriate levels of firmness.

  5. Stage 5: Closure Phase Wrapping it up, the final stage of negotiation is the closure phase. This is where you and the other party finalize your agreement and hash out any fine details and minor compromises. This is also where you formalize your agreement in written, formal and legal format. These are the stages of negotiation that you will need to understand how negotiation works and how you can use it to achieve a great resolution. For More details : http://bit.ly/2Klzm46
