  1. Personal Investigation By Becca

  2. Characters BAMBI -Female protagonist- WINTON (AKA.YAM) -Male protagonist- • Has a varying imagination, her mother worries she is trapped in her how mind due to her fathers passing, she often buys her books on coping with grief. She has a monthly bonfire which Yam attends. • She imagines herself as part of an assassination squad which includes Yam, they violently beat people in slow motion. • Yam is her best friend and her true love, he just doesn't know it yet. She has all the confidence of Oliver Tate (Submarine, 2010) yet is seemingly less arrogant. • He often dreams of scenes of crazed violence and often considers himself a psychopath, his family also recognise his murderous tendencies but are not willing to do anything about it. They don’t care. • He enjoys fire and sees it as a habit rather than a hobby. He never voices his pyromaniac tendencies as he sees it being arrogant. • He doesn't understand sarcasm or body language, therefore has no idea that Bambi fancies him.

  3. CHARACTERS CONT’D • ALANA • -Winton’s strange sister- • Only replies in one word phrases, dialogue is brief and specific. • She’s unpopular but essentially popular among the unpopular people. • Always on her phone like a typical teenager stereotype. • She says a lot with looks. • RUSS • -Bambi and Winton’s only other friend- • He says nothing. • He contributes nothing. • He generally does nothing, he doesn’t add anything huge to the narrative he’s just always there. • Bambi and Winton consider him as a second shadow.

  4. INSPIRATIONS Prominently inspired by the three greatest directors of all time(In my opinion) Tarantino, Kubrick and Jean-Pierre Jeunet. However, I am also inspired by Richard Ayode’s “Submarine”. I am mainly focusing on developing character and creating a visual homage to these directors. All of my characters where thought of while I was listening to the Vaccines... So they’re also an inspiration.

  5. VISUAL IMAGES My main and key image of my short film is of Bambi, Winton and Russ all lying back and listening to music, imagining graphic scenes of violence. I plan on using initial panning shots of the three of them with extreme close ups on their ears. For the scenes of violence I plan on using slow motion in a very similar way to Kubrick’s “A Clockwork Orange” by using either French pop music possibly by Bridget Bardot or even possibly 1960’s song ‘Where did our love go?’. I also intend on using lots of panning shots on feet and hands as the introduction to my film showing Winton walking through field on his way to meeting the others. Music is key to my film as well as the mise-en-scene in creating a mood. I plan to give my film an urban film by finding derelict settings to shoot in.
