  2. Academy Premise • The Academy for the Advancement of Health Care Leaders is founded on the premise that the future of health care will be led by clinicians and executives who possess the leadership skills required to guide their organizations into an increasingly complex future.

  3. Academy Purpose • The purpose of the Academy for Advancement of Health Care Leaders (AAHCL) is to establish a cohesive and comprehensive program that offers training, learning, and mentoring opportunities and helps develop essential skills for leaders in the 21st century health care environment. In part, this will be accomplished by providing present and future leaders with a broader understanding of the responsibilities as leaders, new perspective on critical leadership issues they face, and a deeper understanding and awareness of concepts and techniques relevant to leadership.

  4. Academy Goals & Objectives • Develop future health care leaders • Enhance and expand participants’ leadership knowledge, abilities and skills • Facilitate development of strategic thinking skills that focus on the opportunities and challenges facing health care • Allow participants an opportunity to examine their individual aspirations, strengths, weaknesses and personal commitment to leadership

Academy Framework • Twelve active members • Four first year students (completed up to six classes) • Four second year students (completed more than six classes) • Four graduates • Alumni considerations – Develop plan • Develop Recruitment Strategy • Create Advisory Board • Faculty Considerations • Active Participation • No Cost to Students

  6. Academy Requirements • Support Each Member • Participate in at least 80% of activities • Membership in American College of Health Care Executives • Attend Annual Leadership Conference • Participate in project requests from the ULV Student Alumni Advisory Council
