DIPEx research methods • literature and field review, advisory panel • wide sample of people from all over UK - at different stages and from different backgrounds • 40-50 interviews at home • unstructured and semi-structured sections • digital video and audio recorded • Ethics approval for broadcasting, teaching and research

Who uses DIPEx? • Approx one million hits per month • Patients, their families and the general public • Teachers – medical students, nurses, social science, research methods and health policy • Researchers (secondary analysis – archive for social science & history of medicine) • Health professionals & policy makers (what issues are important to patients) - NICE • Patient representatives (e.g. on committees)
