Introducing the Community Affairs Team Jackie Lynch Director Carolyn Vazquez Community Affairs Specialist 8 Chapters of dedicated African-American Task Force Volunteers Partners in the Community Transplant Centers & businesses supporting donation • Empowering people to make life saving decisions through education and awareness about organ and tissue donation. • Participation in community events and activities in a creative grassroots effort to reach out to people across the state with a call-to-action-REGISTER TODAY! • To set a positive example to the public and others, and to help nurture our relationship with all volunteers, donor/recipient families, hospitals and community partners.

  2. How We Connect In Communities The Myths and Misconceptions: Many communities still believe in false information about organ donation. We face many challenges at a very basic level in getting people to change their minds and register. Overcome the Challenges: AATF works directly with leaders and community based organizations to provide information and opportunities to register their decision to become donors • Identifying existing opportunities to reach community members • Customized outreach in specific areas-i.e. outreach in faith based organizations-pastors are important • Maximizing resources and natural partnerships to inform people about the urgent need for organ and tissue don • Continued development of the African-American Task Force-our volunteer base that works in 8 different chapter areas connecting resources and partners to help empower communities
