  1. SAS ABM Survey Kit A Sample Usage Scenario: Collecting Numeric Attribute Values

  2. Problem: You need to collect number of “Inspections Passed” for your Activities. This numeric attribute value will be used as part of your driver formula to distribute costs accordingly. Solution: In ABM, first attach the “Inspections Passed” attribute to the relevant Activities. Then export the “ValueAttribute” and “ValueAttributeAssociation” tables to ASK repository. ASK will automatically detect that and allow you to associate owners responsible to fill out the data.

  3. Notice we have attached “Inspections Passed” attribute to the relevant Activities.

  4. We then export “ValueAttribute” and “ValueAttributeAssociation” to ASK repository. ASK is database independent so you can use SAS, Oracle or any other database repository ABM supports.

  5. Login as Admin. Notice the ASK version on the bottom of the screen. Numeric Attribute Survey is available in version 6.2.1.3335 or higher. If you have older version of ASK, simply install new version to the same folder for easy upgrade. No uninstall, reboot, or client updates required.

  6. Notice ASK automatically shows the attributes in the pull down menu.

  7. We assign the owners for each activity.

  8. Notice the red/incomplete icons are placed next to the 4 owners we just assigned. ASK monitors each user's progress in real-time. Once all icons are blue/completed you know everybody has completed their surveys.

  9. With a single-click you can send 4 separate emails to the 4 owners to notify them.

  10. Jim clicked the ASK link embedded in your email and logged-in.

  11. Jim’s dashboard indicates he has a survey to complete.

  12. ASK will validate every data entry. Only valid numeric values are allowed. So Jim removed the word ‘Packages’ and simply entered 200. He hit ‘Finish’ and notified you that he had completed all his surveys.

  13. You refreshed the page but how come Jim’s Status is still red? Let’s go here

  14. You found out that indeed Jim has completed his survey for 2004 Q1/ACTUAL. But there are 2 different Period/Scenario.

  15. Switch Since 2004 Q1/Plan is not critical you decide to mark it as complete by clicking on the red icon. Now you know why Jim’s status is still red/incomplete. He did not fill out survey for 2004 Q1/Plan.

  16. 2004 Q1/Plan is now marked blue/completed.

  17. Jim Smith’s status is now blue/completed.

  18. Let’s check the back-end Staging Dataset to verify. Look at the highlighted observation on the Value variable. 200 = Jim’s previous data entry.

  19. Thank You
