IU Health Research Support • Annual support to IUSM for program development and strategic development • Hospital partner in CTSI development and operation • Alignment of Methodist Research Institute clinical trial unit within CTSI • IU Health Values Grants for Research & Education ($1.2 million/year) - focus on young investigators and pilot studies • IU-IRB infrastructure/operational support

Transformational & Pillar Goals • 2014 Transformational Goal: IU Health will be recognized as one of the nation’s leaders in hosting and supporting translational research, and in the development of personalized medicine, & clinical trials/participants across the system. • A key requirement will be a robust infrastructure, including IT. • 2011 Pillar Goal: Develop & implement system-wide IRB & biobank programs (target: 5375)

  10. Clinical Trials: IT Support • For investigators: identification of potential trial candidates. • For patients: usable information about available clinical trials • For physicians: point-of-service information about potential patient-specific clinical trials

Biorepository patients • Mechanism established to allow IU Health submissions prior to completion of system-wide IU IRB (current total 1221) • System IU IRB project initial focus on Bloomington, Arnett, Ball. Target to be operational: July 2011. • Other IU Health facilities to be engaged on staggered basis.
