  5. Discussions, hot topics (3/3) • 4th Form Factor • The RIM / Motorola Mobility proposal has been updated in order to try and reach a compromise • The proposed CR has been revised several times during the meeting to address the comments raised by smart card manufacturers • Additional time was given to participants to check the feasibility of the compromise proposal; a bis meeting (conference call) was scheduled • Main objections at the end of the meeting were • From SC manufacturers: due to tolerances, position of the notch and contacts placed on top of the chip, the proposal would imply changes in the production line, i.e. impact on the cost and time to market • From some Operators: time to market is not favorable to this proposal, although nobody has been able to provide a date for the expected implementation in terminals nor expected delay due to the change in the manufacturing process

  6. Request for advice • 4th Form Factor • No agreement could be reached on a compromise even though proposal was reviewed and revised during the meeting • SCP Plenary is requested to give guidance regarding the way forward, between the seek for compromise and the ongoing e-vote process
