Wrongly Ordered Priorities • Putting Popularity Above Truth • “Don’t have any enemies.” • Paul had enemies – Acts 9:20-23; 14:19; 1 Corinthians 15:32; 16:9; 2 Timothy 4:14,15 • Peter & John had enemies – Acts 4:1-3, 13-22 • James had enemies – Acts 12:1,2 • John had an enemy – 2 John 9,10 • Jesus Christ – John 1:11; Matthew 27:11-44; Luke 4:28,29

  7. Wrongly Ordered Priorities • What is more important – the truth or God or popularity of the preacher? • God’s word is truth – John 17:17 • Soul are purified in obeying the truth- 1 Peter 1:22 • Knowing it makes one free- John 8:32 • To err from it means spiritual death- James 5:19,20

Wrongly Ordered Priorities • Believing a lie results in condemnation- 2 Thessalonians 2:11-13 • The word is the Gospel of our salvation – Ephesians 1:13 • Truth of God has everything to do with our salvation – popularity of the preacher has nothing to do with it! • Romans 1:18 “suppress the truth in unrighteousness” • Acts 20:26,27 “whole counsel of God”

Wrongly Ordered Priorities • Putting Money Above Righteousness • Proverbs 11:4 “do not profit in the day of wrath” • Proverbs 11:28 “trust in his riches will fall” • Proverbs 13:7 “makes himself rich, yet has nothing” • Proverbs 23:4,5 “do not overwork to be rich” • Proverbs 28:22 “poverty will come” • 1 Timothy 6:9-12 “love of money a root of all kinds of evil”

  10. Wrongly Ordered Priorities • How Could God Have Made The Matter More Plain? • 1 Peter 4:11 “oracles of God” • “When you agree to do something for a man, do it no matter what it takes!” • Romans 1:29-32 “those who practice such thing are deserving of death”

  11. Wrongly Ordered Priorities • Putting The Love of Pleasure Above The Love of God • 2 Timothy 3:1-5 “lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God” • Give God, Jesus Christ, the Bible and Worship and Service to God their proper place in our lives

  12. “Do I Have My Priorities In Order?” • “Have I buried God’s interest under my own?” • Philippians 2:19-21 “all seek their own, not the things which are of Christ Jesus” • IF God does not have FIRST PLACE in our lives, He has NO PLACE AT ALL!
