  2. EVOLUTION OR CREATIONWHICH IS IT? Some definitions (according to Dictionary.com) • What is “Science”? • “Science means knowledge” • Science is testable, provable and based on facts • What is Evolution? • Biology. Change in the gene pool of a population from generation to generation by such processes as mutation, natural selection, and genetic drift. • Evolution has many forms: • Cosmic – origin of time, space, matter; Big Bang • Chemical – origin of higher elements from H • Stellar and planetary – origin of stars and planets • Organic – origin of Life • Macroevolution – origin of major kinds • Microevolution – variations within kinds • Only Microevolution is correct scientifically

  3. EVOLUTION OR CREATIONWHICH IS IT? Evolution is made up of theories which are sometimes stated as fact, when they are not, For example: • “Shells from livingsnails were carbon dated as being 27 000 years old (Science, Vol 224, 1984 pp 58-61). -A freshly killed seal was carbon dated as having died 1300 years ago (Antarctic Journal vol. 6, Sept-Oct. 1971 pp 211).

  4. EVOLUTION OR CREATIONWHICH IS IT? • Lava from the 1801 Hawaiian volcano eruption gave a K-Ar date of 1.6 million years old (Earth and Planetary Science Letter, 6-47 55. Also Impact no 307 Jan. 1999). • What about CREATION? • All over the world radio-polonium halos exist in granite, indicating the earth was never a hot, molten mass (See book by Robert Gentry, “Creation’s Tiny Mystery”, or www.halos.com).

  5. EVOLUTION OR CREATIONWHICH IS IT? • http://www.halos.com/ • Did you know that scientific evidence abounds to support the biblical accounts of creation and the flood? Were you aware that reports outlining this evidence passed peer review, and were published in the open scientific literature? Have you heard that, decades later, this evidence still stands unrefuted by the scientific community? An Overview • Etched within Earth's foundation rocks — the granites — are beautiful microspheres of coloration, halos, produced by the radioactive decay of primordial polonium, which is known to have only a fleeting existence. The following simple analogy will show how these polonium microspheres — or halos — contradict the evolutionary belief that granites formed as hot magma slowly cooled over millions of years………………….

  6. EVOLUTION OR CREATIONWHICH IS IT? • The decaying magnetic field limits earth’s age to less than billions of years. • Niagra Falls’ erosion rate (4-7 ft /yr) indicates an age of < 8400 years. Remember Noah’s flood could have eroded half of the seven and a half-mile-long Niagra River gorge in a few hours as the flood waters raced through the soft sediments

  7. EVOLUTION OR CREATIONWHICH IS IT? • The slowing spin of the earth limits its age to < “billions of years” • Stalactites could have easily formed in about 4400 years (e.g. Van derKloof -1965) • Dead jellyfish normally melt away in days. Yet Teaching about Evolution has a photo of a fossil jellyfish on page 36. It clearly couldn’t have been buried slowly, but must have been buried quickly by sediments carried by water. This water would also have contained dissolved minerals, which would have caused the sediments to have been cemented together, and so hardened quickly.

  8. EVOLUTION OR CREATIONWHICH IS IT? • The booklet Stones and Bones6 shows other fossils that must have formed rapidly. One is a 7-foot (2m) long ichthyosaur (extinct fish-shaped marine reptile) fossilized while giving birth. Another is a fish fossilized in the middle of its lunch. And there is a vertical tree trunk that penetrates several rock layers (hence the term polystrate fossil). If the upper sedimentary layers really took millions or even hundreds of years to form, then the top of the tree trunk would have rotted away.

  9. EVOLUTION OR CREATIONWHICH IS IT? • Looking at the two scenarios

  10. EVOLUTION OR CREATIONWHICH IS IT? • So what you conclude from all the above (which is only a drop in the ocean!)? • Can you solve the problem? • WHAT, WHERE, HOW, WHEN, HOW, WHY? • What is the logical conclusion given the data collected? • For further info, go to www.answersingenesis.orghttp://creation.com/
