  3. Minor Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (MAcSU) an educational system National Center: general coordination, organizational and methodological governance 25 regional departments youth scientific societies, coordination of city and disctrict departments District and city departments

Priority Areas • Youth: • educational projects • educational and scientific events • Teachers: • professionaldevelopment • scientific and methodological support; • Publicity: • popularization of children’s scientific achievements and the best experience of scientific and pedagogical staff; • publishing; • Cooperation: • national: educational and scientific institutions and public; • international (CERN, JINR, Xlab, ANL, etc.)

  5. International cooperation. Cooperation with CERN Joint Declaration betweenMAcSUand European Organization for Nuclear Research 29th of August, 2011 This Declaration allows MAcSU to finance participation of teachers and students in CERN educational programs. Four CERN visits (53 pupils 13+ y.o.): 27 June - 2 July 2012; 11-16 June 2013; 2-7 August 2014; 15-17 September 2016 20 students come next week 19-23 June 2017 Four CERN teacher programs (105 teachers): 12-19 November 2011; 13- 20 October 2012; 5 -11 October 2013; 4-9 December 2016 ` 2017 program in December 2017

  6. Teacher Programs organization • Paricipation ~30 people/program. Selection by MAcSU. Approximate gender balance/representation from all regions of Ukraine, 1 week. • Languages of the program: ukrainian or russian • Strong support from CERN in program organization. Thank you very much! • Strong support from Ukranian scientistes in CERN for lectures. • We are lacking Ukranian guides – trying to address this issue.

School-level Visits organization • Selection by MAcSU, gifted kids, all Olympiad winners, very strong group • ~One visit/year, 15-25 people, 13-18 year old + accompaning people • Program is tri-lingual: ukranian, english and russian • Up to 2014 the same program as teachers. Organized by M. Storr/M. Savino • From 2016 no more dedicated support from CERN: weshortened the visit • Benefitfrom CERN schoolvisit program (1/2 day) + Scool LAB (1/2 day) • This iscomplemented by a lecture program one or two ½ days, privatevisits (ATLAS VCR), Microcosm, Globe, Physioscope @ Geneva Univeristy and UN visit • Not possible without support fromUkranianscientists • Nextvisitisnextweek 19-23/06/2017

  8. Every Ukrainian teacher who participated in CERN educational programs shared their knowledge with 8000 people. Ukraine CERN In 2017 first time Ukranian participants in S’cool LAB Summer Camp & International High School Teacher Program. We are benefiting already from expanded range of CERN programs and looking forward to further cooperation.

National educational projects of MAcSU Open Educational Laboratory (2013-) Scientific and Educational Center “Fundamental Physics of the Micro and Macro World” • Scientific lectures on high energy physics in different regions of Ukraine. • About 12,5 thousand students participants • Founders: • National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine • Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University • State Fund of Fundamental Research • National Center “MAcSU”

MAcSU promotes CERN activities CERN Information CenterinUkraine 65 exhibitions about CERN in all regions of Ukraine (2011-2017) • scientific seminars, online conferences for school students (once per 2-3 months) and teachers (once a year); • publishing and distribution of printed materials on CERN activities

MAcSU teachers as the guides of scientific knowledge, generated by CERN Teachers: • National seminars for the teachers of physics and astronomy (16 events, 757 participants); • Professional trainings for physics teacher (over 4400 participants); • Meeting of methodical unions of physics teachers at regional, district and city levels on the activities of CERN (over 3500 participants); • Round tables for the school and extracurricular institutions teachers (~2000 participants); • Seminars and workshops for pedagogues who work with talented children (about 130 events); • Research and practice conferences for physics teachers and young scientists (46 events); Children: • Presentations for the scientific student union members (74 events) • National educational program “Modern physics”;
