  2. Basic Note Card Format Source #____ Write a fact about the person here. What should my note cards look like?

  3. Avoid Plagiarism! Source #____ Paraphrase as you write the fact OR Just write the fact without a complete sentence (like a date & event) OR Write the exact words that someone said with quotation marks around them. What should my note cards look like?

  4. You don’t need to write down basic information you already know. • Write specific information, such as dates, places, important names or titles. • Include some quotes in your note cards. Use quotation marks and write down who said the quote. I’m not sure what to write on my note cards.

  5. Make sure to find at least 3 quotes that you can use in your paper • Quotes made by the person you’re researching • Quotes by someone else talking about the person you’re researching • Quotes add interest and authority to your paper Quotations

  6. Remember the purpose of this paper • You are exploring a turning point in the person’s life • Look for facts that support the turning point • Look for things that happened as a result of the turning point • Why is the person remembered? • How will the person be remembered in the future? Focus on Turning Point

  7. Aim for a goal of 30 note cards form various sources. • You don’t have to use every fact in your paper. Goal: 30 or More Note Cards
