Outages • Sat 2/17: additional SAN storage at WBOB added for garnet to allow for storage move • Sat 2/24: garnet hardware physically moved • Sun 3/11 (after scheduled power outage): • 3:15pm: SAN re-sync attempted • 3:45pm: garnet crashed • Tue 3/13 4am: garnet service restored • Tue 3/13 10am: www.tc.umn.edu restored • Fri 4/6: Web hotel outage (network issue)

  3. Future Upgrades • Incoming mail (MX) server hardware (3 Sun V210 to 3 Sun T1000s) • Incoming mail (MX) server software (BT Mailhub to BT MMP) • Directory software (BT GDS to BT Aphelion) • LDAP gateway software (BT LDAP concentrator to OpenLDAP)

  4. Dovecot • 3/23: autoreply problem affecting Dovecot servers only was fixed • 4/11: Approx. 20,000 users now on Dovecot IMAP/POP service

  5. Spam Control • Exploring possibility of “greylisting” and/or rate-limiting unclassified sites with excessive user spam reports • Looking into adding: • PSBL block list, http://psbl.surriel.com • DNSWL whitelist: http://www.dnswl.org

  6. Bits ‘N Bytes • Two-factor servers being installed • Auto-filing re-activated • Morris e-mail server decommissioned 3/29 after moving users to TC servers
