Indicators of excellence • External recognition • 1 of only 57 business schools in the world (out of 5000 +), and only Scottish business school with full international accreditation (AMBA, AACSB and EQUIS)‏ • University of Strathclyde has been awarded “UK University of the Year 2012/13” by Times Higher Education (THE) • Europe’s first university faculty to be awarded a licence to operate an MBA in the UAE. • 1st in Scotland for research excellence - 7th equal in the UK (UK RAE 2008) • Department of Human Resource Management is a CIPD approved centre • Department of Accounting and Finance has its programmes accredited by CIMA and ICAS • Department of Marketing is accredited by Institute of Export, Chartered Institute of Marketing and the Market Research Society • Our Hospitality & Tourism degrees are accredited by the Institute of Hospitality

National Student Survey results - 2013 • The National Student Survey (NSS) is an annual assessment of how university final year students rate their studies. • Strathclyde Business School as a whole has scored above the sector averages in ALL of the NSS categories. • Our average score across our key business subject areas in terms of students’ overall satisfaction, (elements such as teaching, assessment and support throughout studies) was 92% - the upper quartile for UK Universities was 90%.

Recognised innovation in business and management education: pioneered developments in undergraduate teaching, Marketing, the MBA and DBA. • In 2012, launched a new MSc Global Energy Management – the first of its kind in the UK. • In 2013, we will launch a joint MSc in European Financial Management with SKEMA business school. • Our latest international ventures are developing strategic partnerships in India, US, China and Spain. • In 2013, we will launch a bespoke MBA in Global Energy for senior managers of Iberdrolaand ScottishPowermanagement, in partnership with ICADE Business School, Spain. Engaging • Centre for Corporate Connections formalised our on-going industry engagement in 2011 • On-going partnership with Babcock Academy, delivering management education to managers across the Babcock International Group and the Babcock MBA in 2013. • Launch of MBA25 – a bespoke MBA in partnership with Wm Grant & Sons • Executive education clients include Senergy, Standard Life and Alliance Trust • Deloitte, Procter and Gamble, Ernst & Young sponsor our Management Development programme at undergraduate level • International advisory boards - Iain McMillian, Director, CBI Scotland chairs UK-based advisory board • Careers, corporate liaison, projects and internships – on-going engagement with existing and prospective recruiters • Strathclyde Business Fellows Network • Over 800 live knowledge exchange projects in SBS

  9. International • Strathclyde MBA moved into many new countries over 20 years ago. Currently, 9 international centres, in Europe, the Middle East and South East Asia. • In 2011, Strathclyde SKIL Business School was launched in Greater Noida, New Delhi – a partnership with SKIL Infrastructure Limited, one of India’s most successful infrastructure leader. • The first course – Masters in Management - was launched in 2011. • In 2012, the first intake of the Executive Masters in Hospitality and Tourism Leadership – an industry led programme, partnering with Cornell University, New York and EcoleHoteliere, Lausanne, Switzerland. • SBS has 85 international partnerships with other universities and business schools, resulting in some 330 exchanges • Our postgraduate community in Glasgow comprises over 80% international students with over 40 different nationalities.

Influential research • Number one in Scotland – by a wide margin - for research excellence and 7th equal in the UK (UK RAE 2008) • 65% of SBS research staff carry out work which is ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’ (UK RAE 2008) • Over 300 active collaborations with industry and public policy partners • Research income in 2009/10 of £3 million • Impressive range of publications in leading journals • Over 250 live research links with international collaborators
