Y TREIGLAD MEDDAL Yn or‘n trigger a Soft Mutation (Treiglad Meddal) in adjectives (describing words) that start with the letter P, T, C, B, D, G, Ll, M or Rh. e.g. Mae hi’n boeth (poeth > boeth) Mae hi’n bwrw glaw! Doing words (verbs) stay as they are after yn. You will often hear people say Mae’ninstead of Mae hi’n, when conversing in Welsh. Either is acceptable. Mae’n braf. Mae’n bwrw glaw. Mae’n stormus. Mae’n oer.

  4. Weithiau (sometimes), you might hear this question asked aswell: Mae hi’nbraf, tydy? Mae hi’noer,tydy? Mae hi’nddiflas,tydy? Mae hi’nwyntog, tydy? Ateb: Ydy, mae hi’n ... = Yes, it is ... Nac ydi, mae hi’n .. = No, it’s ... Adref, practice the following deialog: A: Helo Ffion! Sut wyt ti? B: Bore da! Da iawn, diolch. A tithau? A: Iawn, diolch. Mae hi’n braf, tydy? B: Ydi, mae hi’n braf! Bendigedig! A: Hwyl. B: Hwyl fawr!
