  1. Perfunctory- automatic; unthinking; without expression To have everything completed for them, the humans had robots that were your typical perfunctory machine, completing assigned tasks for them.

  2. Meticulous- taking or showing extreme care about minute details; precise; thorough To cut his grass meticulously, Mr. Rogers must use scissors, making each and every strand of grass the exact same length.

  3. Lament- to express grief for or about; deplore; mourn To see Denise lamenting over her breakup with her boyfriend, her friends couldn’t help, but to be there for her.

  4. Paraphernalia-furnishing used in or necessary for a particular activity; equipment; supplies To practice for softball, the team must bring various amounts of paraphernalia such as bats, bases, softballs, water and helmets.

  5. Despotic- repressive; authoritarian; domineering To quit from being told what to do and what not to do, he grew up into a despotic, cruel man, allowing no one to boss him around.

  6. Tangible- real; concrete To have a wild imagination, you’d have to release all tangible thoughts, believing in the impossible.

  13. Parsimonious- frugal or stingy; penny-pinching; tightfisted To be the ultimate scrooge, you’d have to have a parsimonious, cold heart.

  14. Virulent- highly deadly; poisonous; lethal To watch the news about countless men dying out at war, shooting virulent weapons on a daily basis, causes me to have empathy for them, as well as their families.
