Viktor Vasnetsov, Russian painter and architect, master of historical and folk art. • Viktor Vasnetsov was bornin May 15, 1848 in the family of an Orthodox priest Mikhail Vasnetsov (1823-1870). • Vasnetsov studied art in St. Petersburg. After graduationof the Academy, he traveled abroad. He began exhibited his work in 1869.

  6. "Bogatyri • "Bogatyri" –is a picture of Victor Vasnetsov. The common name of the picture - "Three bogatyrs”. Vasnetsovworked on the painting for nearly twenty years. April 23, 1898 it was finished and soon bought by Tretyakov for his gallery.

  7. The painting depicts Three bogatyrs -DobrynyaNikitich, IlyaMuromets and AlyoshaPopovich (Russian bylinas main characters). In the middle on a black horse, IlyaMuromets, looks away from the palm. In one hand bogatyr holds a spear, and the other holds the mace. To the left side on a white horse DobrynyaNikitich, takes the sword from its scabbard. To the right side on the horse AlyoshaPopovich, holding a bow and arrows. In comparison with his friends he is young and slender.
