Mission • Communications: • Encourage participation in, partnering with, and continued funding of Open Science Grid by communicating OSG capabilities, achievements, goals and vision to consortium members and partners, funding agencies, prospective collaborators (broader science communities), other grid projects, media, those interested in the work of OSG and the general public. • How do we do this?Provide and respond to requests for usable, interesting, up-to-date information about OSG. Maintain website. • Documentation: • Provide, coordinate, organize, maintain usable, complete, up-to-date, technical documentation for the OSG community of new and existing users, administrators, trainees, and other workers.   4. Scope & Activities • Communications in OSG covers: • Material for OSG web portal. Including Research Highlights (~1/month) • Material for and publishing of monthly newsletter to all of OSG Consortium. Have surveyed people to see what they want in it; trying to make it relevant and interesting. • Brochures, posters, slide shows, etc. • Contributing editor to International Science Grid This Week; online publication (0.5 FTE of full FTE support). • Help with news and press releases, acknowledgements with users and stakeholders (publications). • Outreach to other science communities • Documentation in OSG covers: • Review of material on the OSG@Work twiki; responsibility for organization and content of the Documentation web • Technical documentation for users, administrators, software and services, training and education, OSG staff. Current Work • Web material in particular need of work are: • Outreach and engagement, Initial entrant/ new user documentation and software, Calendar of events and meetings • Graphics (consultant through VMS) for OSG concepts diagram for website and brochures. • Thinking about how to introduce multimedia communications • Exhibits & Outreach: • Planning booth at CHEP 07 (10x10) with demonstrations. • SC07? Some Council members pushing for this. • Work on common material across Educause, Internet2, OSG, TeraGrid for CI Days (Campus Infrastructure Outreach). • Proposal for another AAAS event. May 2 deadline for proposal. • Documentation: • Not enough OSG Staff and Consortium actively contributing. Currently need tech experts to review some pages (e.g., FAQ). • Priority need for “new to OSG” users guide • A couple of VOs have provided requested information; followup required • Need to address complaints about complexity and navigation in doc.
