  6. The Serbian folk music includes rural (izvorna muzika) and urban (starogradska muzika) music. The most popular groups which play Serbian folk music are: Balkanika, Balkanopolis, Dvig, Slobodan Trkulja, Belo Platno, Teodulija, Kulin Ban. All these groups use traditional Balkan musical instruments which are: frula, diple, gajda, zurna, duduk, tamburica, gusle, kaval, davul, tarambuke.

  7. Frula looks like flute. It is a instrument of shepherds. Diple is woodwind instrument just as frula, zurna and duduk. It occurs in Croatia, Montenegro and Serbia.

  8. Gaida is a bagpipe. It made of: bag which is of sheep or goat hide, blowpipe, drone, stocks and chanter.

  9. Zurna is woodwind instrument which always accompanied by a bass drum. Duduk is instrument from ancient Armenia. It is relative of East Asian instruments.

  10. Gusle is used always as accompaniment by singing. Tamburica already existed in Byzantine Empire. It is like mandolin.

  11. Kaval is used in South Serbia. Just as frula, kaval is instrument of shepherds. Davul is double-headed drum. It was instrument of janissary music.

  12. Tarambuke has second name – gobled drum. This type of goblet drums was used in Babylonia and Sumeria.
