  1. Maintaining Your Car: Practical Tips Do you own a car? If yes, you must know that you are responsible for keeping it in a roadworthy condition. A car is a machine. So, it calls for adequate care and maintenance to function correctly. Remember, only a healthy vehicle can serve you the best. If you do not maintain your car's health, it is likely to develop defects that will make you spend more money fixing them through a mechanic. You might now ask an appropriate question–how can you effectively maintain your car? And the answer is the following steps: #1. Maintain the Engine Oil at the Correct Levels The engine oil is analogous to the blood of your car. Therefore, you should ensure that the engine oil remains at the correct levels. You should check the oil levels now and then. And, you should take your car to the mechanic to fill it to the correct level if you find the oil level low. For example, a mechanic Rockhampton can tell you when to change the oil. Given the claims of most oil manufacturers, a standard oil can last up to 15,000 km on average. However, changing the oil every 10,000 km is a good practice. #2. Check Whether Brakes, Batteries and Belts are Working Properly The three components–brakes, battery and belts– are critical for safety while driving your car. For example, you will not be able to stop the car with faulty brakes, which can cause an accident. Therefore, you should take your car to a service station to check the condition of the brakes. For example, a car service Brisbane can examine the state of the brakes and recommend whether they need to be replaced. Ideally, you should get the braking system checked at least once every three months.

  2. Again, the battery's distilled water has to be at the correct level. Therefore, you should ensure that the water level is at the right level. #3. Check if the Warning Lights are Glowing It is a good practice to check if the warning lights are glowing. You will see warning signs if everything is not well with your car. You can figure out what to do when you see specific warnings by going through the manual. #4. Hire the Right Mechanic It is an important aspect. So, you should not hire incompetent mechanics. Although you can save money by hiring a sub-standard mechanic, it will be for the short term. You will have to spend more money in the long term as any repair by an incompetent mechanic can aggravate the existing flaws into significant defects. In such a case, you will have to spend significant money to fix such a defect. Therefore, you should ask different sources about the right mechanic for your car's job. And engage a competent mechanic for your car's repair. #5. Check the Tyre Pressure Avoid driving your car with low tire pressure. It will entail higher fuel consumption and damage to the tires. Moreover, it will also hamper your driving experience. Therefore, check for the correct tyre pressure. You can check the tire pressure before driving your car. Moreover, look at the treads between the tyres, as they often indicate when to be replaced. As a good practice, you need to change the tyres every 5000kms. Also, do not fail to keep the spare tire in good condition. The Final Say You should not fail to keep your car in a healthy condition. It will not only entail a good driving experience but also reduce defects, allowing you to make fewer visits to the service station, saving you money. Moreover, you will get a good resale value for your car if you keep your car in good condition.
