Role of AGCC The role of the AGCC is to; • Consider and develop mechanisms to coordinate all land, sea and air aspects of GNSS, • Promote the safe and effective utilisation and development of GNSS in Australia, and, • Coordinate national security issues, the application of augmentation systems, and the national use of GNSS in other relevant applications.

  6. Victorian GNSS Reference Group Role • Identify issues about implementation of GNSS within • A state or industry And • Seek resolution • Through the AGCC, • Cooperation within the state, • Or through any other available avenue

Victorian GNSS Reference Group (Cont) • Provide feedback to the AGCC on. • Policy, priorities, and issues or, • As requested by the AGCC or, • As decided by the reference group. • Support the AGCC or other GNSS organisations through active participation their working groups. • To provide a forum for two-way communication.

  8. Victorian GNSS Reference Group (Cont) Membership. • Anyone interested in GNSS in government, industry or academia. Meeting frequency. • Depends on issues requiring consideration. • The group is currently meeting twice per year AGCC. • The major national group considering GNSS currently is the Australian GNSS coordinating committee.

Activities To Date • 4 meetings to date. • Frequency twice per year. • First meeting 12 July 2001 about draft policy & Allison Kealy presentation. • Feedback was that whilst attendees were happy to participate in policy discussion, but wanted more immediate value such as technical discussions and presentations on what was going on. • Tried to arrange interesting presentation since.

Are They Working? • A forum of this type is clearly needed (demonstrated by interest) • Attendees see value in the presentations, and being kept up to date • Less interested in policies and long term issues • Nevertheless, gave good feedback to the Draft AGCC policy • Well supported by AGCC, Chair and Sec
