  7. APPLYING TO AN IIA CERTIFICATION PROGRAM THROUGH CCMS • Create a profile. If the candidate has not previously applied to an IIA certification program (or if they allowed their eligibility to expire), they must create a profile in CCMS by going to www.theiia.org/certification and click on the link to the CCMS. They will be directed to the CCMS login page. • Click on “First Time Users” link on the right, read and agree to the terms of use, and complete the “New Profile” page. • For detailed instructions on completing a profile, please see pages 3 & 4 in the Certification Candidate Handbook.

  8. AVOIDING DUPLICATE IDs • To avoid the creation of a duplicate record, there must be a match on the membership/customer number, first and lastname, and e-mail address. The candidate must input their name and e-mail address exactly the way it is currently recorded in the global IIA database. Any differences in spelling or variations in the order of their name or e-mail address will result in the creation of a duplicate record. Candidates are encouraged to review their information in the membership database before creating a profile in CCMS. • If the candidate is an IIA member and the CCMS provides them with an IIA candidate ID number that is different from their IIA global membership ID number, they must notify IIA HQ immediately and SHOULD NOT submit any application or registration forms until they are notified that their records have been merged.

  9. AVOIDING DUPLICATE IDs (continued) • The global membership ID number is the number used to access member information at www.theiia.org. • Once the candidate has followed the instructions for activating their account in CCMS, they should click on the “New Incident” link in CCMS and submit an incident requesting that IIA HQ merge the information on their ID numbers.

  10. AVOIDING DUPLICATE IDs(continued) • If candidates submit an application or registration form under a candidate ID number that is not their membership ID number, they will not receive member pricing. • Once the non-member price is accepted and the order is submitted, no refunds or credits will be issued in whole or in part.

  11. COMPLETE APPROPRIATE APPLICATION FORM • Login to CCMS and click on “Complete a Form.” Select the application form for the certification of choice and complete the required information. • Read and agree to the “Program Provisions and Conditions” on the form. Candidates must read the entire Certification Candidate Handbook before agreeing to the conditions of the program. • Read and agree to the “Pricing Provisions and Conditions” and submit the form. • Verify that the price quoted is correct for the candidate’s situation. If the primary address is in a country that would qualify for discounted pricing based on the World Bank Index, contact the local IIA institute to confirm pricing.

  12. COMPLETE APPROPRIATE APPLICATION FORM(continued) • IMPORTANT: If the candidate does not believe the price provided is correct (based on the country of primary address or the membership status), the order should not be submitted. Once the price is accepted and the order is submitted, no refunds or credits will be issued, in whole or in part. • For more information on applying to the programs, see pages 5 & 6 in the Certification Candidate Handbook.

  13. SUBMIT APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTATION • Refer to the following pages in the Certification Candidate Handbook for specific requirements for each certification program as well as required documentation: • CIA – page 19 • CCSA, CFSA, CGAP – page 24

  14. DOCUMENTATION FOR CIA • Proof of education • Signed Experience Verification Form • Character Reference Form completed by an IIA-certified individual (CIA, CCSA, CGAP, or CFSA), the candidate’s supervisor, or the candidate’s professor.

  15. ELIGIBILITY PERIOD Once a candidate’s application to the CIA program has been approved, the candidate can continue to pursue certification until all of the requirements are met. A candidate’s program eligibility will expire, however, if: • • It has been two years from the date that the candidate’s application was approved, AND • • The candidate has not successfully completed all required exams, AND • • The candidate has not sat for an exam part in the past two years, AND • • The candidate does not have a current open registration for an exam part. (An open registration is defined as a paid registration for an exam part for which the candidate has not yet sat. Exam registrations are valid for 180 days from the date that the registration is processed at IIA.) If a candidate’s program eligibility expires, the candidate loses credit for any exam parts previously passed. In order to re-enter the CIA program, the candidate must submit a new CIA application and pay the appropriate fees.

  16. REGISTER FOR APPROPRIATE EXAM(S) • Upon approval of the application, the candidate is eligible to register for the exam(s) in the program to which they applied. • Login to CCMS and click on “Complete a Form.” Select the appropriate form for the exam of choice. • Registration for an exam (part) is valid for 180 days from the date the registration is processed at IIA. Each registration allows the candidate to sit for that exam one time. It is the candidate’s responsibility to schedule an appointment for that exam during the 180-day period and to sit for the exam during that time.

  17. REGISTER FOR APPROPRIATE EXAM(S)(continued) • Read and agree to “Pricing Provisions and Conditions” and submit the form. • Verify that the price quoted is correct for the candidate’s situation. If the primary address is in a country that would qualify for discounted pricing based on the World Bank Index, contact the local IIA institute to confirm pricing.

  18. REGISTER FOR APPROPRIATE EXAM(S)(continued) • IMPORTANT: If the candidate does not believe the price provided is not correct (based on the country of primary address or the membership status), the order should not be submitted. Once the price is accepted and the order is submitted, no refunds or credits will be issued, in whole or in part. • For more information on payment and the registration process, please see page 7 of the Certification Candidate Handbook.

  19. RECEIVE AUTHORIZATION TO TEST • Once the exam registration has been processed, the candidate will receive an “Authorization to Test” notification via e-mail advising them to contact Pearson VUE to schedule their exam. • Candidates must wait 48 hours before contacting Pearson VUE to allow time for their registration data to be uploaded to the scheduling system. • Candidates cannot schedule an IIA exam with Pearson VUE without first registering and receiving authorization from The IIA.

  20. SCHEDULING AN EXAM • Scheduling is the process through which the candidate reserves a testing station at the location and time that they wish to take the exam. • Exams may be scheduled at any IIA-authorized Pearson VUE test center at any time the center has an available testing station. • After waiting 48 hours for the registration data to be uploaded to the scheduling system, candidates should schedule their exam as soon as possible to have the greatest opportunity to sit at their preferred date, time, and location. • www.pearsonvue.com/iia • Exams can be scheduled for any available appointment time within 180 days from the date that the registration is processed at IIA. If the exam is not scheduled within that timeframe, the “Authorization to Test” will expire and the candidate will have to register and pay for that exam again in order to schedule or sit for it.
