This orientation includes an overview of the State Bar’s programs and services, how to find answers to your questions on ethics, an explanation of the lawyer regulation system and MCLE requirements, and an introduction to professionalism. Membership Services Young Lawyers Division - The YLD is a dynamic community and professional service organization of the State Bar of Arizona, specifically created for new lawyers who are under 37 years of age, or have been in practice for five years or less.   6. Hotlines • Ethics Hotline – 602.340.7284 The inquiry must be about an Arizona attorney's own prospective conduct. Inquiries are confidential unless either the inquiring attorney or the lawyer regulation department request disclosure, or pursuant to a court order. The hotline does not address professionalism matters, legal issues, or past conduct; nor does it provide information or advice about anyone other than the inquiring attorney. Advice cannot be given via email and cannot be conveyed through a paralegal or other assistant. Website: http://www.azbar.org/Ethics • Trust Account Hotline – 602.340.7305 The hotline offers confidential assistance to your trust account questions. Questions may include: What is a 3-way reconciliation, what types of software may I use to keep my trust account records, what records do I need to keep and how to open/close a trust account.

  7. Hotlines • Attorney/Consumer Assistance Program-602.340.7280 The Attorney/Consumer Assistance Program (A/CAP) is designed to quickly address issues between lawyers and clients. A/CAP allows concerned individuals--lawyers and consumers--to speak with a State Bar lawyer who can help resolve minor issues and quickly refer more serious matters for a full investigation. Website: http://www.azbar.org/lawyerconcerns/disciplineprocess/acap • Fee Arbitration – 602.340.7288 Fee disputes between lawyers and clients can be arbitrated at no cost to the parties. This is a free, voluntary program where an arbitrator is assigned to determine what the reasonable fees should be for the legal services that were performed. Participation is voluntary but if both parties agree to arbitrate the fee dispute, the parties will be bound by the award. Fee Arbitration is only available if there is no litigation pending to resolve the fee dispute. Website: http://www.azbar.org/ethics/feearbitration

Hotlines • Continuing Legal Education Information and Registration – 602.340.7322 The CLE Department creates educational opportunities for you to expand your professional knowledge and improve your technical skills, as well as fulfill the annual MCLE requirement. Locating the right assistance is, at times, as challenging as the problem itself. The Member Assistance Program, also called "MAP", provides counselors who quickly and professionally assist you in handling issues affecting your personal or work life. Law Office Management Assistance Program • Law Office Management Assistance Program (“LOMAP”) LOMAP provides information and advice about practice management, starting and running a law firm as a business, marketing, client relations and communication, technology and more. Bar members can take advantage of our free 30-minute consultation (by phone or in our office) on a variety of practice management topics Forms: (http://www.azbar.org/professionaldevelopment/lomap/forms ) These include general set-up forms, sample fee agreements, active client lists; conflicts checklist, closing files checklists and trust account management/administrative forms. Packets: (http://www.azbar.org/professionaldevelopment/lomap/packets) LOMAP currently offers a Set-Up packet online. This has resource information for establishing a first-time practice or newly opened practice. A Closing Packet is also available members who are closing their practice. Both packets available online at no charge.

Many of these books are available for review at the State Bar office in Phoenix. These books may be borrowed on a limited time basis and many are available for purchase at a discount through the LOMAP office.
