  2. Welcome to Advance Math 7! • 7th grade is a fun year with all of the extra activities that students can participate in. • It can be a difficult year too because of all the extra activities.

All About Me • My background • I grew up in Robinson and graduated from here. • I attended Schreiner College and played basketball. • I graduate from Baylor with both my Bachelor's and Master’s degrees. • My experience • I’ve been teaching for over 20 years. • I have taught and coached in the JH for the last 13 years.

  4. My Goals • To give students the academic skills they need to progress to Algebra I. • To provide a supportive and fun classroom environment. • To help the students prepare for the 7th Grade TAKS Test.

  7. GradingPolicy • Grades are divided into 4 categories. • Homework – 30% • Classwork(warm-ups, vocabulary, etc) – 20% • Test & Projects – 30% • Quizzes – 20%

  8. Class rules are: • Be prepared. • Be positive. • Be on task. • Be respectful. • Be ready to learn.

  9. Assignment vs. Homework • I will make an assignment most every day. • If it is not finished in class, then it is homework. You should be able to finish in class most days, IF you are on task. • It is due at the beginning of class the next day or stated due date. • If a student needs extra time help on an assignment, then he/she needs to set up a tutoring time as soon as possible.

  10. Class Information • Pen vs. pencil • Blinder with dividers – Notes, Homework, Warm-ups, Vocabulary, TAKS, Unit Review • Leaving the room during the class period • Textbook - online

General Information • Please take advantage of the school website and my blog is linked to the JH webpage. • www.robinson.k12.tx.us • Subscribe to my blog to get an email when I posted anything new. • Each day of the week will be devoted to homework, absent work and/or missing work for a specific subject area.Math is on Thursday.

  12. My Class in a Nutshell • I teach students and not math concepts • If you work hard, then you will have a hard time failing • Class should be enjoyable and positive environment.
