Accreditation in the US is in two forms • Institutional accreditation: • Six Regional Accreditors – New England, Middle States, Southern, North Central, Western, Northwest • Other National Accreditors – Distance Education and Training Council (DETC), Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE), Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS)

Accreditation in the US is in two forms • Programmatic Accreditors: • Many, but not all, academic programs are accredited by programmatic accrediting bodies – allied health and most health related fields, education, public affairs, engineering, business, etc. • But not all academic programs have an accrediting body. Professional associations are not accreditors.
