  2. Foods That They ate • They ate fish, all kinds of eggs, and pigs. • They also ate lamb, duck, and geese. • They ate date candy (not for Valentine’s). • They liked turtles. • They liked mushrooms!

  3. manners • The ancient Egyptians had their own rules about how to behave while eating: Wash your hands! • Ancient Egyptians washed their hands before they ate. They did this by dipping them in a bowl of water. Use your fingers! While utensils such as knives were used to cut up meat, most ancient Egyptians used their fingers. Don’t stare at your food! It was considered rude to stare at your food – even if it was something icky like pigeon. Don’t waste your food! Got leftovers? Well don’t throw them out – the goat will have them! Everything was recycled when possible in ancient Egypt.

By using sand, you could make a pyramid: • Pyramids could take up to 25 years to make. • They ate and captured fish to eat while making pyramids. • Ancient Egyptians did NOT have cooking equipment like we have today to cook food. • They had nothing electronic.
