Requirements • All inspections must utilize front lighting • All inspections can utilize the same trigger as the chain is being indexed • Vision system must be able to communicate the result of each inspection independently using digital I/O • Vision system must be able to provide an additional output to be used as a heartbeat to verify that an image has been acquired and that the image has been processed

  18. Automotive Chain Inspection • We quoted a VA40E-03-C53-0 with all necessary lighting & lenses. • The local Cognex/DVT distributor was also given an opportunity to quote against us. • The local Cognex/DVT distributor told the customer that they could not compete against us on a three camera system • We won the job! • It was determined that the customer also needed a single camera system located downstream of the VA40E that they purchased. • The customer purchased a VA15 to do the job without looking at anyone else.

  19. Single Camera Inspection • After chain is assembled, the chain is placed under tension and driven with two sprockets. • The chain is inspected to be sure that all of the components have been assembled onto the chain.

  20. Single Camera Inspection • Hardware • TM2 camera • 16mm lens • 50mmx50mm backlight • Software • Count tool • Reject if we do not have the right number of light areas in either one of the ROIs
