On your own • During the first half of this session and while you’re listening to the UAS overview and the student’s experience, reflect on the suitability of the UAS scheme to your discipline/area of practice and … • … write down any issues that arise. These could be benefits you wish to explore, questions, critical comments or concerns you have about the UAS Scheme. Write only one topic per post-it.

Overview of UAS • Provides a framework for a degree module that awards science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) undergraduates with academic credit towards their degree • The success of UAS lies in the fact that all participants benefit from their involvement in the scheme • For further information: www.uas.ac.uk

  6. About Our UAS module (ISAD333) • Who is it for? • Optional module for all ‘Computing’ final year undergraduate students • 20 credits AY module • What process is involved in setting up and running this module? • What assessments are involved?

  7. A student’s experience • Student: RaminVazir • School: St. Boniface College, Plymouth

  8. Your ‘top topic’ • From the post-it notes you’ve written, choose your ‘top topic’ and keep to one side. You will need this for the group discussion. • Keep your other post-its in front of you for now.

  9. In groups of four • Choose two of the four ‘top topics’ and explore/discuss further. If one of your chosen topics is a question or concern, try to come up with suggestions to answer or overcome it. • Keep a record of the group discussion: the main points raised, any answer(s) to your questions provided by your group, etc. Use one of the templates provided per question.

  10. Any other questions? • Hand the completed templates to one of us at the end of the workshop • We will write up the information from the completed templates. • Have you still got any unanswered questions? • Hand in the relevant post-its and we will try to address them in the write-up, too. This information will be disseminated to you.
