What do you look for in an ideal heifer / cow? • Structural Correctness • Balance • Correct set to feet and legs • Good slope to shoulder • Volume • Deep and wide in barrel • Width from pin bone to pin bone • Muscling • Wide, deep quarter • Wide chest floor • Strong in the loin • Femininity • Cleaner in head, neck, and shoulder • Teat placement • “Looks Like a Cow”

  4. Correct Placing • Correct Placing – 3421 • Cuts – 424 • 3 – stoutest made, heaviest muscled, wider chested, more spring of rib, more extended • 4 – deep bodied, correct in finish • 2 – balance, feminity • 1 – short bodied, poor balance, high in pins
