Curriculum • The three TPM masters have the same structure: • Sem. 3: Exchange or Master Specialisation/Electives Package • Sem. 4: Master Thesis Project • All three MSc programmes have an obligatory Master Thesis Preparation course of 5 EC • All three programmes have a (model) Master Specialisation/Elective Package of 15 EC. • EPA has 10 EC Societal Challenge Project or 10 EC of – free - electives.

Exchange and/or Double Degree • TPMs Preparation Master Thesis (5/6 EC) is obligatory! • Follow regular schedule • On-line learning • Different exchange arrangements possible: • Exchange 24+/30 EC with any of our exchange partners universities around the globe • Exchange 15 EC (p.e. Harbin) + 10 EC electives

What YOU should do NOW! • Visitthespecialisation market on 7 May 12:45-13:45 Hall TPM • Fill out theform, willbesent toyouby mail = compulsory • Alsowhenyou go abroad! • Also when you are a 2nd entry starter! • Fill in FIRST and SECOND preference • Too low numbers >> specialisationwill be cancelled! • Deadline: 31 May 2019

Electives & Specialisation Form • Graduation Portal: ->Forms-> EPA Application Master Specialisation and Elective courses • Signed by the Graduation Coordinator. • When going abroad: due May/June • Need permission of Board of Examiners • When staying in Delft: due semester 3 • Best if you are sure what courses you will take • Best if you have passed them

  16. What makes an EPA thesis an EPA thesis?

EPA Final Attainment Levels • Competent in one or more scientific disciplines: policy analysis, systems modelling, economics and/or management. • Competent in doing research: (data) analytics • Competent in design of system models, scenarios, strategies • Scientific approach • Basic intellectual skills to reflect and decide • Intercultural and interdisciplinary • Aware of temporal/social context

What makes an EPA thesis an EPA thesis? • Subject related to Grand Challenge • Inadequate policy arrangement • Need for informed decision-making • EPA Approach: • Analyses the contemporary political situation and societal relevance of project • Clear use of analytical tools and methods • Often modelling/simulation/gaming • Policy Advise

EPA = evaluates systems to deal with grand challenges In RQ always a grand challenge and verbs which indicate a need for policy advice, like: adapt, assist, (re-)organize, contribute, improve, etc. (and not: re-design, mitigate, integrate, optimize, etc.) CoSEM= designs (interconnected) systems MOT = optimizes production/distribution systems, mostly in private sector Explanation
