Early Childhood Update

Kindergarten Readiness Snapshot Tool: Key Ideas • Provide a snapshot of where children are upon entry into kindergarten • Include communication (language & literacy), problem solving, motor, and social emotional areas of development • Engage families and caregivers in gathering information about their child’s development and early childhood experiences

  6. Kindergarten Readiness Snapshot Tool • First statewide collection window began August 1 and ended September 20. • As of October 2, programs entered 21,838 ASQ-3 screeningsand 21,341 ASQ-SE2 screenings for children ages 5 years and older.

Kindergarten Readiness Snapshot Tool: Next Steps • Collect feedback and share best practices to facilitate strong family engagement and participation. • Analyze data and communicate results to better understand development of Kansas kindergarteners. • Continue development of professional supports to effectively utilize ASQ data at the classroom, school and district level.
