You Need:

Calculator and Ruler

2.1 Lab sheet

BIG IDEA:

Drawing and Identifying Similar Figures

• How many of you know how to play tic-tac-toe?

• How many do you need in a row to win?

• Today’s T-T-T game is a little different…you need 4 to win!

• Groups 1-4 will play a test game against groups 5-8.

• Let’s play on the board! 

• The points for Zug will be found from Mug’s points. The rule is (2x, 2y). What do you think this rule tells us to do to a Mug point to get a Zug point?

• MULTIPLY EACH COORDINATE BY 2

• What do the other rules tell you to do for Lug, Bug, and Glug?

• Lug: multiply the x coordinate by 3 and keep Mug’s y-coordinate the same

• Bug: multiply each coordinate by 3

• Glug: keep x the same and multiply the y- coordinate by 3.

• Go through your table and compute the new value of the x and y for each point first.

• Remember that you are always starting with Mug’s x and y coordinates.

• Then, locate the points and connect them in sets as you did for Mug!

…and how did you do on your graphs of the characters?
