  2. Since May, 2013: • Closeout, awards for FY 2013 • Successfully met EHR-led NSF Priority Goal on Undergraduate STEM Education • New staff • Preparation for FY 2014

  3. Lapse in Appropriations October 1, 2013 through October 16, 2013 • For EHR: • Missed several planned panels • Ideas Lab on Data-Intensive Research to Improve Teaching and Learning was conducted (as grant-funded activity) • Multiple staff activities postponed or cancelled • Curtailed events in November and December to allow time to catch up

December 11, 2013: Important Notice 135: Transparency and Accountability at NSF • Defining research priorities and objectives at all levels of the organization and at all stages of merit review • Improving our research abstracts, ensuring these primary sources of public information clearly articulate the broader context and funding justification

Looking ahead, highlights: • Planning and execution in FY 2014, including NSF Research Traineeships • Leadership roles in implementation of the NSTC CoSTEMFederal STEM Education 5-Year Strategic Plan • Participation in NSF-wide Undergraduate STEM Education Implementation Team • Virtual review of 14,000 GRF applications • Second round of EHR Core Research proposals • Working with the EHR Advisory Committee Strategic Visioning Project report
