  1. Jesus Was Raised to do… What?Hebrews Chapter 7 Sunday April 20, 2014 Resurrection Day

  2. Purpose of the Message:To Look at the “High Priestly Ministry” of our Lord, Jesus Christ as it Relates to Prayer Warriors

  3. What is a “Priest”?A Priest is some one through whom one may draw near to God. God is Holy, man is sinful, therefore a go-between was necessary.

  4. Hebrews 7:14-17 For it is evident that our Lord was descended from Judah, a tribe with reference to which Moses spoke nothing concerning priests. 15 And this is clearer still, if another priest arises according to the likeness of Melchizedek, who has become such not on the basis of a law of physical requirement, but according to the power of an indestructible life. 17 For it is attested of Him, "YOU ARE A PRIEST FOREVER ACCORDING TO THE ORDER OF MELCHIZEDEK."

  5. Genesis 14:17-20 Then after his return from the defeat of Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him, the king of Sodom went out to meet him at the valley of Shaveh (that is, the King's Valley). 18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; now he was a priest of God Most High. 19 He blessed him and said, "Blessed be Abram of God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth; And blessed be God Most High, Who has delivered your enemies into your hand." He gave him a tenth of all.

  6. MELCHIZEDEK Was most likely an Old Testament manifestation of Jesus Christ Himself as a Priest to Abraham

  7. The New Covenant With Better PromisesThe Better CovenantThe Blood Covenant

  8. Hebrews 7:22 …so much the more also Jesus has become the guarantee of a better covenant.

  9. Hebrews 7:23-2723 The former priests, on the one hand, existed in greater numbers because they were prevented by death from continuing, 24 but Jesus, on the other hand, because He continues forever, holds His priesthood permanently.25 Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. 26 For it was fitting for us to have such a high priest, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners and exalted above the heavens; 27 who does not need daily, like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the sins of the people, because this He did once for all when He offered up Himself.

  10. Jesus Intercedes for Us…the Believers

  11. Mark 13:32-3432 "But of that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. 33 "Take heed, keep on the alert; for you do not know when the appointed time will come. 34 "It is like a man away on a journey, who upon leaving his house and putting his slaves in charge, assigning to each one his task, also commanded the doorkeeper to stay on the alert. (Jesus is not planning the Rapture)

  12. Acts 1:8-98 but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth."9 And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. (Jesus is not laying hand on the sick)

  13. Atonement VsRemission

  14. Leviticus Chapter 16The Scapegoat

  15. Hebrews 10:12-1412 but He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, SAT DOWN AT THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD, 13 waiting from that time onward UNTIL HIS ENEMIES BE MADE A FOOTSTOOL FOR HIS FEET.14 For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified.

  16. Atonement means: CoveringRemission means: Removal

  17. Romans 8:3 For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh,

  18. 2 Corinthians 5:21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

  19. All Who are in Christ Share in the Priestly Ministry of Jesus

  20. Revelation 1:4-64 John to the seven churches that are in Asia: Grace to you and peace, from Him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne, 5 and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him who loves us and released us from our sins by His blood -- 6 and He has made us to be a kingdom, priests to His God and Father -- to Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
