  1. Multiplication with tenths. I am learning to multiply a whole number by a decimal fraction. Questions like 4 X 1.2 = ?

  2. chocolate chocolate Three people have been given 1 whole chocolate bar and 2 tenths of a chocolate bar. How much chocolate is there in total? 3 X 1.2 = ? chocolate Step 1: We can work out how many whole chocolate bars there are by calculating 3 groups of 1 whole. 3 X 1 = ? 3 Step 2: Now work out how many tenths there are. 3 groups with 2 tenths in each. 3 X 0.2 = ? 0.6 3 + 0.6 = 3.6 Step 3: Add the two amounts together.

  3. Six people have been given 0.6 of a chocolate bar. How much chocolate is that in total? 6 X 0.6 = ? Step 1: There are six groups of 6 tenths. 6 X 6 tenths = ? 36 tenths Step 2: Now we need to work out what 36 tenths is the same as. We know there are 10 tenths in a whole so in 36 there must be… 3 wholes and 6 left over. 6 X 0.6 = 3.6
