  1. Chapter Lessons OVERVIEW • Create shape tween animations • Create a mask effect • Add sound • Add scenes • Create a slide show presentation Getting Started with PhotoShop 7.0

  2. Intro to Special Effects INTRODUCTION • Special Effects can add variety and interest to a movie • Morphing-changing one shape into another • Spotlight-Highlighting an area, or revealing part of the stage • Sound Effects • Scenes-Organize your movie Getting Started with PhotoShop 7.0

  3. Shape Tweening LESSON 1 • Greater control over shape transformations than with Motion Tweening • Can shift initial object’s shape into any form you desire • As with Motion Tweening, you can change other properties such as color, location, and size Getting Started with PhotoShop 7.0

  4. Morphing Effects LESSON 1 • Changing one object into another unrelated object • Requires only 2 keyframes • The number of frames included from the beginning to the end of the shape-tweened animation determines how quickly the morphing takes place Getting Started with PhotoShop 7.0

  5. Shape Tweening... LESSON 1 • Can be applied only to editable graphics • To apply to Instances, Groups, Text Blocks or Bitmaps, first you must “Break Apart” • A “Broken Apart” instance is no longer linked to its symbol • You can shape tween more than one object at a time as long as all objects are on the same layer Getting Started with PhotoShop 7.0

  6. Shape Tweening... LESSON 1 • You can shape tween an object in a straight line, but other options, such as rotating an object are unavailable • You can use the Properties inspector to set some options such as Ease • Shape Hints can be used to control more complex shape changes Getting Started with PhotoShop 7.0

  7. The Properties Panel LESSON 1 • Ease-Adjust the rate of change between frames to create a more natural appearance • Between -1 and -100 will begin the tween gradually and accelerate • Between 1 and 100, begin the tween rapidly and then decelerate Getting Started with PhotoShop 7.0

  8. The Properties Panel LESSON 1 • Blend • Distributive for smoother, irregular shapes • Angular preserves corners and straight lines • Flash defaults to Distributive option Getting Started with PhotoShop 7.0

  9. Shape Hints LESSON 1 • Helps control a shape’s transition appearance during animation • You specify a “hint” location at the beginning and end of an animation that correspond with one another • The “hint” suggests how the object should morph Getting Started with PhotoShop 7.0

  10. Shape Hints LESSON 1 Without Shape Hints With Shape Hints Note difference in middle frame of animation Getting Started with PhotoShop 7.0

  11. Understanding Mask Layers LESSON 2 • A mask layer allows you to cover up objects on another layer(s), and at the same time, create a window through which you can view various objects on the other layer • Moving the window around can give you a spotlight effect Getting Started with PhotoShop 7.0

  12. Understanding Mask Layers LESSON 2 • You need at least two layers • Mask layer contains the window object through which you view objects on the layer below • The Masked layer is the second layer which contains the objects that are viewed through the window Getting Started with PhotoShop 7.0

  13. The Masking Process LESSON 2 • Select an original layer as the Masked layer-contains objects to be revealed • Create a new “Mask” layer above • Draw a filled shape • Flash ignores bitmaps, gradients, transparencies • Select the new layer and declare it a Mask through the Layer Properties Dialog box Getting Started with PhotoShop 7.0

  14. The Masking Process LESSON 2 • Declare the original layer as the Masked layer through the Layer Properties Dialog box • Lock both layers • To mask additional layers, drag beneath the mask layer • To unmask a layer, drag it above the mask layer, or select and declare normal through Layer Properties Getting Started with PhotoShop 7.0

  15. LESSON 2 The Layer Properties Dialog Box Frame 1- Mask layer with Window Frame 2- Layer before applying Mask Frame 3- Masked layer after Applying Mask Getting Started with PhotoShop 7.0

  16. Adding Sound to your Movies LESSON 3 • Sound can add impact to your Flash movies • Quick process • Import-places the sound file into the Library • Create a new layer • Select the desire frame and drag the sound symbol onto the stage • Put each sound on its own layer Getting Started with PhotoShop 7.0

  17. Sound Formats LESSON 3 • Flash supports • WAV(Windows Only) • AIFF (Macintosh Only) • MP3(Windows and Macintosh) • With QuickTime 4, Flash accepts add’l sound formats A sound symbol’s Wave pattern, as displayed In the timeline Getting Started with PhotoShop 7.0

  18. Managing Sound LESSON 3 • The Properties Inspector allows you to synchronize sound, as well as add basic effects like fades • You can preview sounds in the Library Sound options Previewing the Sound in the Library Getting Started with PhotoShop 7.0

  19. Adding sound to buttons LESSON 3 • Open the Button Symbol • Create a Sound layer and insert a keyframe in the down frame • Drag a sound from the Library Getting Started with PhotoShop 7.0

  20. Working with Scenes LESSON 4 • As your timelines grow, using scenes will help you manage your Flash movie • To add a Scene, choose Insert >Scene, or use the Scene command from the modify menu The Scene Panel Getting Started with PhotoShop 7.0

  21. The Scene Panel LESSON 4 • The Scene Panel allows you to manage and name your scenes: • Rename a scene • Duplicate a scene • Add a scene • Delete a scene • Reorder scenes Getting Started with PhotoShop 7.0

  22. Working with Scenes LESSON 4 • New scenes can be created which can have new content • Or you can split your existing content into multiple scenes by copying and pasting frames from one scene’s timeline to another Getting Started with PhotoShop 7.0

  23. Adding interactivity to Scenes LESSON 4 • By default, Flash plays scenes in order • Buttons can cause a movie to jump from one scene to another • Frame scripts can cause a movie to jump from one sceneto another ActionScript that jumps to a new scene Getting Started with PhotoShop 7.0

  24. Electronic Slide Shows LESSON 5 • Presentations like the one you’re watching, are used as a communications medium for business, entertainment, CD-ROM, and speaker support • Flash can build Slide shows that surpass the capabilities of applications like PowerPoint Getting Started with PhotoShop 7.0

  25. Electronic Slide Shows LESSON 5 • Slide shows tend to be linear, and have little interactivity or multimedia • Flash can add robust multimedia, and full interactivity, as well as transitions similar to commonly used in Slide Show Applications Getting Started with PhotoShop 7.0

  26. Electronic Slide Shows LESSON 5 • Create a “wipe transition” by using a moving mask • Fades can be completed with Alpha effects • Interactivity can offer the speaker greater control of their presentation Getting Started with PhotoShop 7.0

  27. Align Objects using the Align Panel LESSON 5 Getting Started with PhotoShop 7.0

  28. Chapter E Tasks SUMMARY • Create shape-tweened animation • Create a mask effect • Add sound • Add scenes • Create a slide show presentation Getting Started with PhotoShop 7.0
