  7. 情態副詞擺放原則 • 情態副詞用來修飾動詞,應該盡量跟動詞靠近,通常放在動詞後面。 • 若句中有受詞或補語等更重要的元素存在時,情態副詞就要往後移或移到動詞之前。 • 注意: 不規則變化的hard, fast, early, late, well這五個情態副詞只放在動詞之後,不放動詞之前。 The boy played happily in the park. The weather turned cold suddenly. The weather suddenly turned cold.

Some children go early to many houses with bags for sweets. The boys and girls knock on the door noisily and say loudly, ”Trick or treat!” The people in the house quickly open the door and put candy in the children’s bags. And then, the children go happily to the next house. Children everywhere in America love Halloween.

It was dark and foggy. We were lost. And to make matters worse, it started to rain. And then, it started to pour. Lightning lit up the sky and thunder rang in our ears. We wandered around in the rain for over two hours. We were very wet and very cold. And then, at about midnight, I saw an old abandoned house on a hill. “I think we’ll have to spend the night in that old house and wait till morning,” I said.
