  2. Why My Reviewers? • Students disregard teachers' evaluations. They’ve come to think of grades as arbitrary and unhelpful • Grading criteria are poorly defined/inconsistent • Inconclusive evidence higher education matters • Universities lack real-time information about student struggles as writers, thinkers, researchers • Universities lack digital libraries/models/evidence of undergraduate student work.

The My Reviewers Process • Clarifies grading criteria • Improves teacher response to writing • Enhances student peer review • Encourages reflection/critical thinking • Enables universities to assessthe development of research, writing, and critical thinkingskills, synthesizing teacher response with assessment

(Anticipated) Benefits to FYC Students & Instructors • Students/Teachers report our shared assessment creates a climate of fairness and focus • Accountability and clarity regarding teachers' expectations prepares students to provide cogent feedback to peers. •  Access to an archive of graded papers and feedback encourages critical reflection and thinking • The criteria/definitions/examples/exercises embedded in MR provide powerful teacher-training resources • The reporting tools enable the FYC program to adjust our curriculum during the semester to better account for student needs • The reporting tools enable administrators to identify students and teachers who are struggling
