  3. 2013/14 Undergraduate Bulletin THANK YOU! November 15: Deadline for Undergraduate Bulletin (UGB) files from departments January: Last Curriculum Committee meeting and Administrative Boards meeting for approving courses and curriculum changes. February 1: Submit files to Publications Services Mid-May: UGB distributed to campus units and Orientation office

  4. First Year Seminar: Spring 2013 You can add “instructor consent” to an FYS beginning the first day of classes on Wednesday January 9.

  5. First Year Seminar: Fall 2013 • Scheduling reminders • Enrollment capacity = 24 • Instructors who teach their FYS in a format that works best with fewer than 24 students • should send a request and explanation to the Associate Dean (fys_dean@unc.edu)

  8. First Year Seminar: Fall 2013 • Scheduling reminders • All FYS should be scheduled in a standard time slot and should meet at least twice • a week. • Ex. MWF 10-10:50 AM, TuTh 9:30-10:45AM • FYS instructors who seek an exception to this policy should send a request and explanation to • the Associate Dean (fys_dean@unc.edu).

First Year Seminar: Fall 2013Special Topics (89s) • Steps for the Scheduling Officer: • Schedule the class in ConnectCarolina using your 89 course (e.g., POLI 89, EXSS 89). • Use multiple sections if needed • Add secondary course title • An FYS can be offered two times as a Special Topics; more than twice it must receive a permanent number (submit in CRAS) • If the instructor has never offered the seminar, please send them the FYS link to the online Prospectus Form: • http://fys.unc.edu/for-faculty/first-year-seminar-prospectus-form/

First Year Seminar: Fall 2013Special Topics (89s) • Steps for the Instructor: • Complete the online FYS Prospectus Form and attach a course syllabus (draft) by February 1, 2013 • What does the FYS office do with this information? • Include faculty bio and seminar description in FYS brochure and FYS website • Awards General Education requirement(s)

  12. First Year Seminar: Fall 2013 Schedule November 1: Course Schedule Maintenance opens for the Fall Semester (2139) . Term rolled from fall 2012. January 25: Course Schedule Maintenance closes for the Fall Semester 2013 at 6:00 p.m. February 1: FYS Office begins assembling FYS brochure based on courses scheduled in ConnectCarolina. Please notify the FYS office if any aspect of an FYS (time, location, maximum seats, instructor, etc) changes after February 1. March 15: FYS Office sends brochure text to instructors for editing.

  13. Grade Roster Status Report: Fall 2012 NC_SR_GRADE_ROSTER_STATUS Navigation:MyUNC > ConnectCarolina > Reporting Tools > Query > Query Viewer Select term (2129) and Academic Organization (e.g., GEOG).
