  4. MILLENIALS • BORN BETWEEN 1980 (33 YEARS OLD) AND 2000 (13 YEARS OLD) • THEREFORE CAN BE BOTH PLAYERS AND COACHES

  5. TEENS AND SOCIAL MEDIA TEACHERS (MYSELF INCLUDED) USE TWITTER FOR UPDATES/INSTRUCTIONS/INFORMATION FOR CLASSES GROUPS USE FACEBOOK TO CREATE INFORMATION SHARING SITES (ATHLETIC COUNCILS, TEAMS ETC.) NEED TO UNDERSTAND AND RESPECT WHAT IS HAPPENING SOCIALLY, AND TECHNOLOGICALLY, TO TEENS

  6. TECHNOLOGY AND YOU • IMPACTS OUR ATHLETES, COACHES, ADMINISTRATORS • AND ALL OUR PROGRAMS • AWARENESS OF WHAT THERE IS AND HOW IT WORKS • FACILITATE DISCUSSION WITHIN OUR CLINICS (FIND OUT WHO USES IT, LET THEM EXPLAIN IT)

  10. CONSEQUENCES • EMPHASIS ON QUICK SHOTS, CLOSE RANGE SHOOTING, TIPS, REDIRECTS • PASS TO AN AREA, BOARD PASS, NO LOOK PASS, FIND GOOD ICE, SEAMS • CREATE DRILLS THAT ARE GAME LIKE, GAME SPEED (create urgency), COMPETITIVE, BATTLE

  11. DEFENCE • STICKS ALWAYS ON THE ICE (Bruins). ACTIVE STICKS. STICK ON PUCK. • EVERYONE HAS 1 AND ½ MEN MENTALITY • EARLY PRESSURE ON PUCK – QUICKER, CLOSER, LONGER • 2ND MAN QUICK (gets to loose pucks, initiates break out, helps D) • OUTLETS (bumps, pushes, chips, to an area)

  12. CONSEQUENCES • GAP CONTROL • ONE ON ONE BATTLES • STICK POSITION CRITICAL • BACK TRACK AWARENESS (pressure the play) • PRESSURE/CONTAIN (body and support awareness)
