  1. Academic Options (AO) 2011 - 2012 AO TIME WAS VOTED INTO THE SCHEDULE BY THE SUPERINTENDENT & AN ADVISORY GROUP OF STAFF, STUDENTS, AND PARENTS IN 2010 FOR THE 2011-2012 SCHEDULE, AO TIME MUST BE INCLUDED WE HOPE THIS SLIDESHOW WILL HELP YOU TO BETTER UNDERSTAND WHAT AO TIME IS FOR & HOW YOU CAN PUT IT TO GOOD USE!  ~THE AO STUDENT COMMITTEE

  2. Purpose • To get homework done • To get help from your teachers—take advantage of this time! • Extra study time • Help from your friends/peer tutoring • Group project work time • To make up tests or labs • Enrichment activities i.e.: jazz band or AP prep

  3. Guidelines • AO is designated class time. To earn credit for the class, you must attend and be marked as attending. Worth .25 credits per year • Students should use AO effectively, therefore lobbying in the hallways is not allowed. Sorry! • Everyone will check-in with their advisor before going to work with other teachers and/or students • Available work places: • Advisor classrooms • Cafeteria (for group projects) • All classrooms • All labs • Library

  4. Pass System • Teachers will have a certain number of passes that they will be able to distribute among their students. • These passes allow students to leave their advisor during AO time and seek help from another teacher.

  5. ScheduleAO will always be between 1st & 3rd blocks • Crescent Valley High School Bell Schedule 2011-2012

  6. Simpler Format of Available AO Time

  7. F.A.Q. • Will I not get A.O. credit if I miss a single day? • Just like Advisor, students will need to meet a specific Participation Percentage • For 2011-2012 that attendance requirement is 80% • What if all my work is already done? • Then A.O. time is an opportunity for students to read a book, the newspaper, help a fellow student with homework • How is A.O. Different from having advisor every day? • A.O. is fairly open worktime, as opposed to advisor which is more structured.

  8. Other Questions? • Feel free to send an email to Mrs. Stroud • Post your question on the CV Academic Options Facebook group! We hope you understand next year’s schedule a bit better. Let’s make the best of AO time! ~ AO Student Committee
