  1. It’s almost time to ShakeOut! At 9:26am we will be conducting an exercise drill. At that time we will drop, cover and hold. 9:26am, 26 September 2012

  2. About ShakeOut at Massey Massey University encourages everyone to take part in this earthquake drill as a way of becoming better prepared to respond to an earthquake; however, participation is not compulsory. If you are not comfortable taking part in this earthquake drill for any reason, you may choose not to, and may leave the room before the drill which take place at 9.26am.

  3. Support services It is possible that a range of events – including fire or earthquake drills – may trigger unexpectedly strong emotions in people even if they were not directly affected by the Christchurch earthquakes. These reactions are a completely normal response to an abnormal event! If you would like support to deal with any emotions or experiences you may have, please contact Massey’s Employee Assistance Programme provider, confidentially, on 0800 327 669.

  4. What is Drop, Cover, Hold? The following videos show you how to drop, cover and hold in the event of an earthquake: Kids know best (1:00min) Drop, cover, hold: The university experience (4:42min)
