  2. Turn and Talk… What is an image you would use to describe yourself? (Example: I am as organized as a librarian.)

  5. Small Groups… Work together to create a word web of qualities that could be used to describe God.

  8. One There is only one God. There is no one and nothing like God.

  9. Lord God revealed the name YHWH to describe himself. The writers of the Bible used the name Adonai, or Lord.

  11. Eternal God always has been and always will be. God has no beginning and will have no end.

  12. Truth and Love God’s word is always true. God is love.

  13. Holy No one and no thing that God has created is equal to him. He is “set apart.”

  14. Turn and Talk… Discuss with your partner which attribute of God you find the most difficult to understand. Be sure to explain why this attribute is difficult for you.

  15. Which attribute of God is it? God has no beginning or end. There is no one and nothing like God. God alone can do anything. No one and no thing is equal to God. YHWH Adonai

  16. Activity Choose one of the attributes of God to illustrate using a picture or a symbol. Be sure to make your design neat and colorful. Write the name of the attribute you are illustrating at the top of your picture. Don’t forget to put your name on the back!

  18. God the Father God has revealed himself most fully in Jesus Christ. Jesus called God “Abba” to reveal how much he loved and trusted his Father. God the Father loves us and knows each of us by name.

  21. Review How has God most fully revealed himself? Why did Jesus call God “Abba”?

  22. Activity You will be given a piece of foil. Sculpt a symbol that speaks of God’s greatness, holiness, power, or mystery for you. On the index card provided, write the title of your artwork.

  27. Original Sin Adam and Eve decided to live apart from God. This is original sin. Because of original sin, there is evil in the world. We are all born in original sin. God sent Jesus to restore our friendship with him.

  28. Small Groups… The idea of original sin can lead to many questions. With your group, brainstorm some questions you may have about original sin.

  29. Review How did God create human beings? What is original sin? How can we restore our friendship with God and remove our original sin?

  30. Turn and Talk What are some ways that we use blessing prayers?

  31. Blessings Blessings are a way to show that we believe God is always with his creation. We use many blessing prayers. All of our blessings remind us that God loves each of us and is always with us.

  32. Activity Write a prayer of blessing for a specific person or group of people. You could even write a prayer of blessing for yourself!

  33. Review What are the attributes of God that have revealed to us who God is? How did God create human beings? What is original sin?
