  1. Session Moment Session 1 These sessions were very one sided because the students did not want to talk. Introduction They feltembarrassed of not talking English. I remember telling myself how would I see any change if they don’t want to talk. Session 2 I set some structure and had them say the days of the week back to me on the Days of the week board. I planned on doing this at the beginning of each session. I remembered that it was very hard for them to say Monday but no problem with mine or my. Session 3 The sight words seemed easy but they only had troubles with a few words. Sight words I noted that they really prided themselves with knowing most of them. I separated the more difficult ones to review later. Session 4 After the read aloud they seemed lost but after prompting them with questions Read aloud they seemed to have understood most of the story. I then had them draw certain characters which also surprise me they remembered a lot of them. Session 5 Understanding why they need certain apparel is important especially in Nebraska Apparel it shocked me, to see them in flip flops when it was 36 degrees outside. We discussed what they should wear when and played a matching game. The game matched up the picture with the word. Session 6 Introducing new technology is always fun and it boggled my mine how good IPad they got at it within a few minutes. I started by introducing simple things like the camera and how to type notes. They were quick to adapt which really shocked me for students that have never seen an IPad. Session 7 I felt that finding your way around the school was really important so we walked Location around the school. We pointed out the library and nurse alone with emergency items. They knew where the main office was but could not tell me what it was for. They did know the important procedures for example in case of a fire drill, but didn’t know what the fire alarm was for.

  2. Session Moment Session 8 I didn’t think I would get new students but after looking around in the class, New student I slowly started to notice more and more students. It was a influx of new migrants that had come to Omaha. I felt I had to start over but I differentiated. Session 9 I placed them in charge of taking me around the school by their directions only. In charge By doing this they saw how important it was to be able to articulate what is needed. They had fun doing this and it was one of the times that they felt most comfortable with learning a new language. Session 10 I had a bit of everything mixed together to refresh them what they had learned Recap this whole time we have been working together. They did really good and I felt that I had set a good foundations for their future learning skills.We then allowed the teacher to ask them questions like what did they learn from Mr. G. This was the true test but they all had something different which really made me happy that they remembered so much in such a little time. They also all agreed that the IPad was “Cool”. Some of these Sessions were in two parts so they are under one session because it was the same material.
